Greenland Unicorn and the Magical Alicorn11x17 inch
The elements I added to the spread include large quotes to
make it more visually engaging, as well as headers and page numbers along the side of the page. I also added smaller text to the header of the opening spread and placed the article description at the top, ensuring that the content remains interesting and legible.
The combination of typefaces, along with the overall design, gives the spread a whimsical feel. This is created by pairing the drastically stylized IvyOra Display font with the modern, sans-serif Futura font. This contrast reflects the conflict presented in the article, between the magical, whimsical unicorn and the strict, scientific origins of the creature.
After reviewing previous versions, I found that the color
contrast wasn’t strong enough in earlier prints. It took a lot of trial and error to find two colors that, when printed, were both legible and worked well together.
